Synopsis
At the AOM Annual Meeting in Vancouver (2015), the PDW on “Psychological Foundations of Management: Core Self-Evaluation, Hubris and Humility” has met with success gathering more than 55 scholars from around the world. Building on this previous experience, the follow-up PDW proposal 2.0 aims to intensify research on how specific psychological heuristics might be associated with different sets of advantages or traps. In this vein, we ask: When does the “bright side” of hubristic CEO emerge? On the other hand, what is the “dark side” of CEO humility? In what ways do business owners and entrepreneurs’ core self- evaluations have some bearing on success and failure of new ventures? Answers to these questions are instrumental in shaping more effective strategic and entrepreneurial decision processes. In such a way, this PDW proposal intends to discuss the most relevant challenges we face in exploring the psychological foundations of management. Part 1 brings together an invited panel of outstanding scholars that are going to present their recent research. Part 2 features a set of roundtable interactions.

Synopsis
While innovation is nothing new, its pace, scale, and impact has accelerated significantly. Sometimes, innovation enhances the value of existing products and services. At other times, it renders existing business models obsolete, leads providers to rethink who their customers are, customers to rethink what they value, and reconfigures value-networks. What does it mean to manage and lead in such a world of ongoing disruption? How can firms prepare for the demands that change like this creates? How should we re-tool our intellectual frameworks to deal with such ongoing disruption? This PDW will address these and other related questions by assembling an exemplary group of scholars to lead discussions with attendees.

Synopsis
This symposium aims to advance the existing debate on how psychological heuristics and biases of strategic and entrepreneurial leadership affect (positively or negatively) the firm’s strategy-making processes and performance. The symposium brings together a panel of outstanding scholars who jointly explore the following questions: What is the impact of executive core self- evaluation on firm performance? Are the effects of psychological heuristics and biases of leadership different in short term and long run? How do different organizational and environmental settings change extant relationships? What are the executives’ psychological heuristics that shape their job satisfaction and, in turn, affect organizational choices and performance? What is the role that leader traits play in the relationship between leaders’ capabilities and firm performance? Exploring these questions is highly relevant to identify the key drivers of strategic and entrepreneurial decision and judgment processes.

Abstract 
Evidence of over 350 citations recorded by the articles published in the 2010 special issue on “The Age of Temporary Advantage” of the Strategic Management Journal shows that the inquiry on temporary nature of competitive advantage is an emergent research area in strategic management. They also exhibit that, most likely, it is going to be a significant research area for the coming years. To assess the current status of the literature as well as to fathom the directions and challenges of future research on temporary advantage, we review prior empirical research on temporary advantage so as to offer a conceptual map that provides a comprehensive appreciation of antecedents, processes, and consequences of temporary advantage. We then advance a research agenda on temporary competitive advantage.
